Simón Gutiérrez Alonso works in the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as team leader and ecotoxicologist in the Biocides Assessment Unit and is deputy chair of the Biocidal Products Committee working group on environment. Simón is currently leading ECHA´s work in relation to the development of a methodology to assess the risk to bees and other non-target arthropod pollinators from the use of biocides. Before joining ECHA, Simón worked in the private sector as a regulatory manager and, before that, worked as a risk assessor and ecotoxicologist for the Spanish national authorities. He has also worked in the Spanish National Reference Centre for Persistent Organic Pollutants. Simón holds a Bachelor´s degree in environmental sciences and a PhD in ecotoxicology.
