Brian Nelson

Brian Nelson is a research scientist with the National Parks and Wildlife Service in Ireland. He has previously worked in local government and as an entomological curator in a national museum. In his current position, he provides advice and oversees research on all species of Irish insects and invertebrates and has particular responsibility for Irish Red Lists. He sat on the steering group of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan until 2020. In the international arena, he acts as the National focal point for the Inter-governmental Panel on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services and has been involved in the IPBES plenary meetings that gave approvals to the Regional, Global and Pollinator assessments. He spends as much time as he can recording and documenting Ireland's insect fauna.
