Alessio Ippolito holds a master’s degree in environmental sciences (2009) and a PhD in ecotoxicology (2012) from the University of Milano-Bicocca. From 2012 to 2014, he worked at the International Centre for Pesticides and Health Risk Prevention (ICPS) as an expert of pesticide environmental fate and ecotoxicology of plant protection products. Later, he worked for the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the EU Commission, developing the first Watch List under the Environmental Quality Standards Directive.
At the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), he deals with the environmental risk assessment of pesticides. His current activities include coordinating the EU-peer review of pesticide active substances, performing ad-hoc evaluations, and developing new risk assessment methodologies.
